Recycled Wax

All Lookout Mountain Candles use 100% recycled paraffin wax. The paraffin wax was simply used as a lubricant. Soy wax and other additives such as scents and color are mixed in to make the typical net recycled content of a Lookout Mountain Candle 85% (excluding the containers).

The paraffin comes from wax pieces left over from lubricants applied to cotton apparel fibers. The wax lubricant on the fibers aids in knitting or weaving the cotton into fabrics. Small pieces (typically about ½ ounce each) of the paraffin are too small to be used, and cotton lint left on paraffin prevents it from being reprocessed back into fiber lubricant. Each and every piece of wax is cleaned of any dirt and cotton fibers left on the paraffin. Then when melted it is then strained of any remaining unwanted fibers or dirt. This wax is normally discarded, but instead is used to make your candle.

Tart strength is the strongest I can make the tarts without making them unaffordable. They are about 3.5x in strength. I have always done this this is nothing new. Our candles are as strong as can make them. AGAIN our customers are our best witness to this.

Because the wax is so hard it burns for a Long Time. One 12.9 oz candle will burn for 150 - 200 hours. The candle burns good as well, the wax on the side is very little if any. The melt pool is wonderful! The scent throw is spectacular. The absolute max scent load to the wax. I know you will find these candles Amazing! Keep the wick trimmed to 1/8" and it is a very clean burning candle.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Most of the time shipping will be through the United States Postal Service. If it is under 12 oz it will go first class mail. Most of the time it will go priority mail. If the item will fit in a flat rate box I will attempt that first. The other option is Fedex which tends to be a little cheaper on most large packages. It will also save you money if you have it shipped to an office when using FEDEX.

For tarts I can mail 13 tarts at the current 1 pound rate (which is 4.65 right now). I can also mail 115 tarts for 8.95 in a flat rate box. It is much cheaper in the long run to go with the 1 pound or flat rate box. The cost added to the tart for shipping using a flat rate box (filling it up) comes to about 7 cents more per tart. So that would be about 57 cents total cost for a tartincluding the shipping and handling (handling on tarts is nothing).

Candles. I can fit 6 candles in a flat rate box. I do add a dollar to the total cost for shipping candles because I do spend so much time wrapping the candles so they make it to you the same way they leave here. So for 6 candles cost added for shipping will be 9.95. The average candle cost about 6.75 then add the cost of shipping and handling and you get a cost of about 8.57 per candle. Once again the more you get the cheaper the rate. If you purchase more than 6 candles please contact me for the price.
